Methodology

Stumpf log-ratio model: SDB index = ln(R_blue) / ln(R_green)

Sentinel-2 bands B2 (490 nm) and B3 (560 nm) are used after cloud masking (SCL). The ratio is linearly related to depth in optically shallow water. JRC Global Surface Water (occurrence ≥ 50%) masks non-water pixels.

GEBCO: General Bathymetry Chart of the Oceans (15 arc-second grid) clipped to KMC water bodies for reference.
